Well, this weekend I actually got my backside into gear and not only CHOSE AND ORDERED MY WEDDING DRESS!!!, but I also chose and purchased my bridesmaid dress, confirmed the florist, and asked my cousins to be my flower girls. Phew! The weather this weekend had been horrible - close to 40 the last two days - and humid. I hate the heat so much!
I'm not showing the wedding dress, but now I'm on the hunt for shoes to go with the dress. There are just too many options out there - satin, leather or lace? High or low heel? Pointy or round toe? White or blue? Cheap or expensive?
I had originally wanted a really bright blue for my bridesmaid colour, such as:

Cornflower blue
...or better still:

Aqua blue - beautiful!!
...but in the end we found a really nice dress in a grape purple colour, which is quite dark and different than what I had always had my mind set on, but is still nice. Purple goes well with mauve and very well with lemon yellow, so I'm thinking I'll use yellow to brighten things up a bit.
This is the dress we went for:

I felt a little blah after the colour change, so went to USA Foods and was amazed when they actually had one of my all time favourite foods in stock for the first time ever...Milanos! They were exxy, but I didn't care - I purchased two packets!

Double Chocolate Milanos!!!
I'm tempted to return the dress and wait for something in the colour blue I always wanted, but I know my sister will be furious if I have her return it and keep shopping. The dress is from Myer so it is returnable. She really put the pressure on me to look for and purchase a dress TODAY or never, hence the purchase. It's a really pretty dress and looks so nice on her, it's just the colour I wish was aqua blue. What do you think I should do?
It really is up to you and I think it's a pretty important decision so you don't want to look back in regret.
ReplyDeleteI'm using my BMs dress colour as the overall theme for colour touches. I'm leaning towards a pale pink, so the theme will be black and white with touches of pale pink, eg. pink flowers, pink lolly buffet, pink touches on name cards, bonbonerie etc. so it's a pretty important choice for me.
If you love the blue I would go for it and think about where else in the wedding you could tie in the colour, particularly if it makes you happy! It's a cheerful colour and I think it's nicer than the plum as well! :)
Thanks Jessica for your opinion! My bridesmaid dress will also be the colour accent for the whole wedding - I may use one or two other colours to complement it but the dress colour will be the main colour. I have decided to return the dark purple dress and keep shopping for the colour I really love - the aqua/turquiouse. Unfortunately my sister (the bridesmaid) is not happy at all and is now kicking up a fuss and says she will be very picky on the dress she agrees to wear. Ugh! I can't do it in the end (keep the dress and change to my deep purple) - I've lost so much sleep thinking about it and I would really regret if I didn't go for the blue I really love.
ReplyDeleteGood for you! Go for it, a shame your sis is being unfair! But hopefully she'll come round :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on picking your wedding dress too by the way! X
